score 1 i so agree with sng. shes right. the geniuses of the world are never happy. all artists live sad and miserable lives. its not that they choose it. but its because they bother embracing life the way one really should. they bother to think. the power of thought is amazing. but so many fail to actually use it. why? simply because to not think is to not pain. choice, allows man to always take the easier route. maybe thats why the genius are the brains of the world. if we didn't have philosophers like Nietzsche and Schopenhauer, some would say that the human race would be a lot happier. on the surface to believe in such philosophy is absurd. but if you really think about life and the sorrows in it, ask yourself. is it because of the cosmos that your life is the way it is? or is it because of your actions that have shaped it into what you have now? neither are right. its a little mix of both that actually form your life. but opportunity and timing are essential in such a formula. so to a large extend you CAN blame the cosmos or fate. see how Schopenhauer is right? well, not completely cause his view of women: they "are directly fitted for acting as the nurses and teachers of our early childhood by the fact that they are themselves childish, frivolous and short-sighted; in a word, they are big children all their life long." They are an "undersized, narrow-shouldered, broad-hipped and short legged race ... they have no proper knowledge of any; and they have no genius." isn't the complete truth. he never found happiness because he dared to believe in what he felt held truth in his life. he had the guts to accept the consequences that came along with his beliefs. not everyone can do so. and thats why, not every one is a genius. "Schopenhauer saw the worst in life and as a result he was sour and glum. Believing that he had no individual will, man was therefore at the complete mercy of all that which is about him." his pessimism would never be understood by the masses. why? cause no one wants to believe that his efforts in trying to change his life are useless. people often think too greatly of themeslves, the weakness of man redefined. everyones guilty of it. even the great. confidence is good. but the believe that you are right and that you have the power to shape all isn't. so maybe if we all tried to embrace pain and life in the way a Nietzschean hero would, the world wouldn't always be in the cycle of eternal recurrance of pain that man so greatly fears. see the irony? man fears pain but compounds it with his actions. "Nietzsche was able to write so prolifically and profoundly for years, while remaining in a condition of ill-health and often intense physical pain, is a testament to his spectacular mental capacities and willpower. Lesser people under the same physical pressures might not have had the inclination to pick up a pen, let alone think and record thoughts which -- created in the midst of striving for healthy self-overcoming -- would have the power to influence an entire century." as much as thought gives one power, thought too can kill. some think too much, over analyze and interpret things in the wierdest ways ever. the power of thought must be governed by rationale and logical thinking (maybe thats why creativity is often killed in society). philosophies are borne out of objectivity and strong beliefs. not just words from mad men. there too are many who think they know their philosophies and ideas. but do they really know and belief them because it is rational or of substance? or is it because of pride and reluctance to conform that such people believe they are right? therefore there are points that i want to conclude with: 1) this is how the saying "ignorance is bliss" originates (the stupid are always happy with life) 2) if you're always sad and miserable, you're no genius. simply because you might just indulge in such sorrow for the wrong reasons.
